Youth Sports Financial Assistance Policy

The Waxhaw Athletic Association (WAA) is proud to serve the Waxhaw community, offering youth athletic programs in baseball, basketball, cheerleading, softball and soccer. Part of this service includes a financial assistance program for deserving families in the community we serve, so that no child is unable to participate in youth sports because his or her family is experiencing financial difficulties. This policy and procedure establishes a program, which may provide some financial assistance for need-based families.

All information requested in the Financial Assistance Application Form must be submitted along with proof of enrollment in the free/reduced lunch program or proof of income. A corresponding online sports registration form for each child applying for financial assistance must also be submitted once financial assistance has been granted. Failure to provide complete information may result in denial of the application.

All information provided must be true and accurate. Providing false information may result in immediate cancellation of any financial assistance and the immediate suspension from all WAA programs for every member of the participant’s family for a period of up to one (1) year.

Applicants may request financial assistance for a maximum of one sport per participant per registration period, for a maximum of two requests per participant per year. Applications are for a designated registration period and must be resubmitted for any subsequent request.

  • The number and size of financial assistance is limited by the participating sport budget, which is presented and approved by the WAA Board.
  • Financial assistance is awarded on a first come, first serve basis.
  • Financial assistance will not cover the cost of uniforms, state or league registration fees, tournament fees, camps and clinics.

Completed applications will be submitted to the WAA board via this online application. Financial assistance application and supporting documentation is required for upload to accompany the financial assistance application.

Applications are reviewed after the above stated deadline.

We will contact you after that date to let you know the status of your application.
